Weather Service Says Regional Radio Listening Area in Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather Today

The National Weather Service has put Central Illinois in an enhanced risk for severe weather this afternoon into this evening.

The Weather Service says ahead of a strong cold front, they’re expecting thunderstorms to begin developing in west central Illinois around mid afternoon, before they merge into a squall line and track southeast.

These storms will be capable of producing hail larger than golf balls, along with damaging winds and possible tornadoes.  The Regional Radio listening area is in an enhanced risk for severe weather between 3pm and 9pm today as a result.

Once these storms exit the region, the severe weather threat will be over for the next several days.
